The PACT architecture consists of three components:
- Agents encapsulate existing design systems, transforming them into Knowledge Services.
- Facilitators handle inter-agent communication, routing messages on the basis of content to potentially interested agents. Facilitators also filter, prioritize and semantically map messages so that agents can focus on design-related tasks.
- Personal agents enable people to participate in this agent ecology. Users can respond directly to messages from other agents using a GUI; they can also specify pattern action rules that generate automated responses to routine messages.
