For those of you who have not seen an RSS feed, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed by their limited semantic structure and content. In this example, there’s basically two key information elements: the name of the channel (“Yahoo! News: Science News”) and the subject of the specific posting, expressed as a natural language (English) headline.

The AI community can significantly improve the ability to find and filter Web content by adding more semantics and inference rules to basic RSS feeds. We’ll identify some opportunities later in this talk.
