Our goal at CommerceNet Labs is to give everyone a Personal Agent tool that can turn any web site into a knowledge service. Here’s a prospective scenario, inspired by the Semantic Highlighter, and by Apple Automator, a popular Mac-based visual scripting tool.

The task is to find a reasonably priced apartment near work. I start by going to a site such as craigslist and highlighting a few apartments of interest. Generalizing from those examples, my agent decides I’m interested in two bedroom apartments in the Palo Alto area.
